Does “vintage Blair” means the minions will be back for good? I loved Blair’s bridesmaid auditions.
Safran: It is definitely along those lines. And the minions do make an appearance in the next episode after Monday’s, but what I mean by “vintage Blair,” at least in this one case, is that she’s going to come up against an antagonist that she sets about trying to change. But that antagonist is actually not a person. It is a thing. I’m excited about it so I don’t want to spoil anything. I want people to be surprised.

What if that thing is Blair’s headband? She was associate with headband for two season until Dan take it off in season 3 episode 2.
For me, Blair’s headband represent herself more rather than she using it as an accessories. Blair’s headband is like a security blanket for her. She feel powerful when she use them. In fact, wearing headband was like being the Queen in the Constance School. She even gives Jenny a headband representing that Jenny will become the next queen in Constance.
As we all know, Blair have a problem with insecurities. She hide her real self because she was scared that if she reveal ‘her true self’ someone might back away from her(this is due to her parents, her father left her for another man, her mother was judgmental towards her earlier in the series). She also feel the pressure to hide behind her best friend who is the popular girl with no flaw.
So, with the headband, it sort of create a different her, a more powerful one, who gives order to the minion when episodes by episodes we discover that she just need someone who love her for who she is.
To be frank, when I started watching the show I didn’t like Blair Waldorf so much. I can understand the hype people make about her (her beautiful headband and her fashion) but apart from that to me she is just one of the mean girl in the movies. But like how 1x04 change Dan perception on Blair, it change mine too, forever.
Blair show us, viewers that she is just a normal girl who try all her best to fit in.

Blair : Because you take everything from me, Nate, my mom, you can’t even help it. Its who you are.
Gossip Girl : Spotted-Lonely Boy’s rude awakening. Upper East Side queens aren’t born at the top. They climb their way up in heels, no matter who they have to tread on to do it.
Bad News Blair 1x04

It is frustrating for Blair when her best friend get everything she wants effortlessly when she have to do almost anything to get what she want.
That how it fits on how she was scared that Nate will break up with her, how she wants Chuck to confess to her before she did, how she want to win in every games with Chuck. Because she was scared, that if she let her guard down and be her real self, those people that she love will leave her.
Now let’s get back to Dan. The scene when Dan approach her in 1x04 she said,
Blair : Normally I wouldn’t be close to you without a tetanus shot
At that time, she let her guard down and listen to him. She even agrees to the term and ‘sort of accepting’ Dan.
Fast forward to season 3. Blair still adjusting to college life, trying hard to fit in, and she even hold parties to find ‘potential minion’. She struggles, again, so finding herself in need of Dan’s help. Then come the scene where Dan take off her headband. I don’t why, but I feel that the scene means something more than Dan taking off her headband. It feel like Dan take out her old self and try to show the real her (I don’t know whether this is understandable, haha)
So, beginning that day, she stop her plan, and try to fit in just like a normal teenager. She grown from a high school student to a college girl. And altough she still love power, having minion around, but she finally able to show her real self, what she want, what she need.
In 3x18, when Chuck ask her during Dorota’s wedding she said,

Blair: I want what Dorota and Vanya have. Real love, pure and simple love.
Chuck : You’ll be bored within five minutes.
Blair :  Better bored than ashamed of myself. I would do anything for you Chuck. But what if that’s wrong? I don’t like who I’ve become with you.

That moment, Blair realize that it just take pure and simple love to be happy. She saw how Dorota and Vanya, who didn’t have power and wealth but they can be happy with what they have. She realize that all the games about winning with Chuck bring her nothing but heartache. She was ashamed of who she was, who she become.

Blair: That headband give me Hillary Clinton flashback, the bad kind.
Cross Rhodes 5x16

I’m not saying ‘Queen B’ is not her, its a part of her, but the real her was the one who wants to be loved, who wants to be happy. She learn from experience. She know herself better from time to time. Just like real life, we are searching on who we are. People change as they learn more. Look back at our past, yes we are still the same person, but the person we are in high school are different like the person we are now. Just like Blair. She is her real self, Blair Waldorf, Queen B.

Note:
Wow that was long, actually just want to write about her headband whether it will making a comeback. Can’t help it when I read all the comment on ‘Blair Waldorf will not do this, will not do that, she is not her real self, she’s been taking over by someone else’. Hope this clears. Pheeww
And can’t wait on the Dan giving tiara to Blair. Pretty significant huh? He take off her headband 2 years ago, and crown her with a tiara now. She still can be Queen B, and can’t wait on how Dan fit in that storyline.
